Studio Cabral Photo Walk Vol. 1
This past weekend we finally went on our first official photo walk. We were scheduled to head out on October 1st, but rain got in the way of that. We were so determined to get the walk in this weekend that we decided to ignore the weather forecast. It’s a great thing that we did, because we would have lost out on all of the great images taken. Not to mention the superb conversations with our fellow “walkers”.
Our first ever group was very diverse with people from many ages and job titles. For instance we were joined by a priest and a high school student. We left the studio and headed east along Bloor to capture awesome images. The plan was to make it to Bathurst and the iconic Honest Ed’s. The reason we selected it was that this Toronto landmark will be closing it’s doors for the last time within the next few months. In order to get a photo walk in we had to act fast with the winter headed our way. That made it a fairly easy choice.
Along the way we ran into a mountain bike race at Christie Pits, plus a slew of colorful people, places and things. It was a great learning experience for those involved. We went over a few photography pointers to help them achieve better images. We introduced the rule of thirds to them which is a great lesson in composition. Also we encouraged a move away from automatic settings. If you are interested capturing better images in a relaxed setting let us know. We have yet to schedule or next walk but it will be announced soon.
