Philosopher Kings At The Mod Club
As one of the photographers for Best Version Media there are a few perks. Once and awhile we get invited to pretty cool events in and around the Toronto area. This past week we were invited as guests to catch the return of the kings. The Philosopher Kings to be exact, at the Mod Club on College. If you are Canadian and were listening to music a few years back you would recognize the band. The are getting ready for a new record release and threw a special event for friends and family. We went to join in on the fun, camera in hand, being honest most of the places we go a camera is in hand.
We showed up a little early but that meant we had a choice spot to sit down, although once the show started our sits were useless as we spent the night standing. The show kicked off with new emerging artist Ryland James opening up for the Philosopher Kings. He got the crowd warmed up for the main event with a few of his songs. When the main event arrived it was worth the wait. I just didn’t think I would be as excited as I was to capture this on camera.
The band played most of their hits. Hurt’s To Love You, Charms and You Don’t Love Me were my favorites. As I could actually remember going to HMV and buying the CD for the album Famous, Rich and Beautiful in 1997. It was difficult trying to sing along and photograph at the same time. I am looking forward to the release of their next album which they are working on right now. I wanted to share the images with you all because as a first attempt at concert photography I thought I did pretty well.
