What To Wear For Your Photo Session

What To Wear For Your Photo Session

This question is asked to us on a daily basis and on many days multiple times. What should we wear for our photo session. In many cases if you want to match that is fine and you already have that question answered. Denim on denim on denim it is…I hope you know that was a joke. Unless of course you want to rock the Canadian tuxedo. But let’s get real for a moment, this is a topic that most worry about to no end. We are hear to make one thing clear there are really only a few rules that we follow but enjoy stray once and awhile form them.

Try not to wear anything with a visible logo. Unless of course this session is to sell Nike clothing maybe you shouldn’t wear that hoodie with the giant swoosh across the front. Also unless you are being paid by a company to wear there clothing I wouldn’t go out of my way to wear it. Your wardrobe should reflect the season and a color scheme you may be going after but not too much should be taken away from the people these images are capturing. You can also strive to be more on the timeless side with your clothing. Maybe a solid color versus a pattern that is trendy just to avoid that obvious joke 20 years down the line.

One of the main ideas we pass along is try to wear something that is comfortable but looks nice. So that’s a no for the jogging pants and snuggie. Although both are comfortable you may look a little too comfortable for your photo session. This is especially worth a thought if the session includes children. If they are not comfortable it will show, children do not lie. They are the most honest humans around, if the do not like something they will let you know.

365 Photo Challenge Is Back For 2018

365 Photo Challenge Is Back For 2018

For those of you who are new to our blog, last year I started my very first 365 photo challenge. Which was a challenge to capture one image everyday for all 365 days of the year and post it to Instagram as well as Facebook. The challenge was difficult here and there, since I put the stipulation that every image could not be studio related. I really was encouraged by all of the followers who commented as well as told my how sad they when the year was coming to an end. So I decided to keep it going at least for one more year and maybe long after 2018.

There are a few really great images as well as a few that may not be great. I admit that at times I have tried a few things that didn’t work but at the very least I tried. For some reason I find myself shooting around Lake Ontario often and I’m not really sure about that but maybe one day I will figure it out. It may have something to do with my Portuguese heritage and our maritime history.

My favorite has to be a tie between the image of the wave and the four bird flying away. They speak to me both in a deep way. One is telling me to never stop making waves and the other is letting me know that no matter where you are you can get to somewhere better. Like Florida which is where I hope these birds were heading.

How To Work On Your Wedding Day Personality

How To Work On Your Wedding Day Personality

You could be there in your pajamas having a coffee right now thinking all weddings are the same. In many ways you are right, but just as the cup in your hand fits your personality so to can your wedding day. I promise that this is not just a few fancy words to get your hopes up, you really can have it your way. Just like I have my way at Starbucks when I order a Chai Tea Latte with extra cream.

Even if you are having a large traditional wedding you can implement small to large bits and pieces that show your personality. Not a fan of fancy shoes that will most likely hurt by noon especially if you have not worked them in, wear a pair of Jordan’s or Chuck’s. Think that trend is played out? tell that to your comfy feet. I love comic books and although I did have a Superman shirt under my tux I wish I a could have added the matching cuff links. Your personality can show through either in small details or large statements. The key is to be true to yourself always and just go for it.

My wife wanted a way to honor her mother who had passed away. She added a small locket with her photo to her bouquet. Something borrowed and something blue could be your fathers old shirt woven into your dress, like one of our brides had done so last year. It can be anything that your heart desires and also can be for anyone your heart cherishes. Once again these can be small or large seen or hidden but they are for you and your own personality. I hope that these ideas help you bring a small touch of your personality to your wedding day

Mississauga Convention Centre October Wedding Josephine & John

Mississauga Convention Centre October Wedding Josephine & John

Josephine and John were married on a gorgeous Sunday in October. With blue skies for kilometers and a fairly mild day we enjoyed this one from start to finish. Although we are not ones to complain about the weather it is nice to get an awesome day once and awhile. This day could not come fast enough for these two as we booked this wedding date over a year in advance, and then it finally arrived.

Starting our day off in Bradford was a little change of pace but we are up for anything. Josephine was ready to go as we arrived and we got tight into it quick. A few emotional moments come through here and there but we pulled through them. The morning portion of the wedding agenda went extremely well but we had a date with the groom for a first look in Mississauga that everyone was looking forward to. As first looks go this one had a slight difference than most, our bride and groom had balloons. They let them go after they glanced at each other for the first time on their wedding day.

I did have a slight mini heart attack after remembered that the pesky clown from IT had a thing for balloons, and I have a slight fear of clowns. But I made it through like a pro without any tears this time. Kariya park was a great spot for the first look as well as the capturing images of these two love birds. But we had to get to Mississauga Convention Centre to get them married in front of their family and friends. The ceremony was short and sweet and we all marveled at how quick they were ready for the reception as it was all in one room. The party was great for all who attended as we got a chance to witness some awesome Albanian as well as Italian dances.
