Dianna & Bryan’s Wedding Day

Dianna & Bryan’s wedding day in September was a day in which the weather really was what anyone could dream of when they picture their wedding day. Our day started off in one of our favorite parts of Toronto, the Queen west area. Bryan’s wedding day preparations commenced at his mother’s house which is just a stone’s throw from “Graffiti Alley”. If you have been following our blog you would be already aware of our fondness for that area as a location for photography. It is the most colorful area of Toronto, both for the alleys filled with fantastic images and the people you run into. We also found a wonderful number of props that were very sentimental to him and of course we took full advantage of adding them to our images. You have to check out the wedding cake topper from Bryan’s parents wedding from years past, still in great condition.

The Bride Prep

Dianna was ready to go right from day one when we met for the first consultation. But when the wedding day rolled around we just couldn’t keep her settled until we got to church, She just couldn’t;t wait to get there. You have to appreciate that enthusiasm. I think it helps with capturing the images as the happiness and joy show through. The camera does not lie. A very special shout out to Dianna’s father Mr. Furtado for helping with the candid images. He is a real character and great sport especially with the make up images we captured, which we promised no one will ever see. Unless he wants to run for mayor at which point the bidding will start very high.

The Ceremony

One of our favorite locations for a wedding day ceremony is St. Mary’s church on Bathurst in Toronto. Since the renovations have been completed the church looks absolutely beautiful. We can tell that couples are taking notice as our wedding clients are getting married there at a very high level. Which for us is wonderful because we love it there.

Formal Location

After the ceremony we drove clear across the city to Adamson Estates in Mississauga for our post ceremony photography location. Situated right on Lake Ontario it is the perfect location for anyone that likes a little waterfront and a little architecture for the wedding photography, the perfect contrast to the morning and graffiti alley. Our wedding group was a really fun bunch that made our walk in the park location a true walk in the park. It was a day at work spent with great people that didn’t feel like work.

The Reception

The reception was held at Renaissance by the Creek in Mississauga. The perfect spot to round out the wonderful day with the help of a wonderful staff. Congratulations to Dianna and Bryan and all of the best in the future.

Kathryn & Christian – Mrs. Mitchell’s Restaurant

Kathryn & Christian – Mrs. Mitchell’s Restaurant

This past summer we had the absolute pleasure of photographing our good friend Christian’s wedding to Kathryn. The Sunday we captured these images for Kathryn and Christian the weather was just perfect and the intimate venue just added to the ambiance of the event. With a little over 50 people in attendance Mrs. Mitchell’s restaurant was a perfect venue for the wedding. The ceremony and reception locations were within walking distance and the area surrounding which we photographed was stunning. Of course some added touches from the bride and groom made their day extra special. Kathryn wore pink because the traditional white is not her style and Christian like most males with great taste had to add a little comic book influence. Very good choices with the Flash and Spiderman making an appearance at the wedding. We may have gone with of a Superman theme but you just cannot complain about everything. If there were a problem it was that we simply did not have enough time to photograph the many locations that we had scouted prior to the day. It is always a little bit of a disappointment when you run out of time especially with a location as great as this one is. With all of the great options we had in and around the grounds the food is still wait stands out for us. Mrs. Mitchell’s restaurant had such unbelievable food that was only matched by how great the staff was to work together, if you are having an intimate wedding you should do yourself a favor and check out what they have to offer. It is the perfect blend of a little away from it all and close enough to the city. It also has the feeling of a destination wedding without the travel, which is what a few clients we have met with recently are looking for.

Studio Cabral Open House

Studio Cabral Open House

This past weekend we had our annual Studio Cabral open house. We invited a few clients both new and old and friends stopped by as well. Many people that visited were surprised with all of the products we have and also with the amount of different photography we offer. Although our bread and butter has been wedding and portrait work, we are a full service studio that can take care of any and all photographic jobs. It is always a good idea to remind people of that and the best way to do so is have them over to the studio and see for themselves. Meeting people is one of our favorites aspects of our job. Creating and delivering what people want and are looking for is a challenge. A challenge we except with open arms. Being in this industry since 1987 has taught us that the best way to communicate with people is in a face to face and casual environment. We also appreciate the candid and open way people told us what is good and what is great with what we are offering. Especially the newer prod cuts we have brought to the studio in 2016. Like our open air photo booth which was an awesome hit with our guests. We would also like to thank all of the vendors that were in attendance that offered very exclusive pricing to all of guest. You can visit each and everyone of their websites below, tell them your friends at Studio Cabral sent you. Stay tuned for next week when we will be posting a few images that our photo booth captured during the open house.

Rena & Jan Le Treport

Rena & Jan Le Treport

This past September on a very rainy Saturday Rena and Jan were married at Le Treport. We meet Rena a year earlier and found that her personality fit very well with how or ideal client thinks about their wedding day. She wanted to have as much fun as possible and didn’t worry too much about the weather, because as we all know we do not have control over that. Although we are trying really hard to figure that out. We discussed how the plans were going and she explained with ease how everything was running smoothly and how she was very excited about tying the knot.

Fast forward to a few months later and the wedding day. We had plenty of options in adding to the images we captured on their wedding day. Jan who is a big Queen Park Rangers fan had his entire wardrobe set for the day. Which included Queens Park Ranger cufflinks and full kit of jersey and shorts underneath his suit. Unfortunately those jersey and shorts did not make the cut of images below. You will have to take my word for it. We even managed to grab a ring shot with the best city on the planet included. A very special shot of the bouquet was a little extra special as they were a DIY project that included the help of Rena and her bridesmaids pulling it off the night before. Then the fun started…

The forecast called for light showers later on in the afternoon, so we were not too worried about it. As we were headed out to our photo location on the lakeshore in Mississauga rain began falling down. In about 5 minutes we had a fairly significant down pour of rain that last a few hours. Not to worry we always have a backup plan. Rena wanted to incorporate umbrellas which she and all of her bridesmaids had, which was such a great prop to use as you can see below. We even had a chance to laugh about how well thought out the umbrellas were for her day as it turned out. Our friends at Le Treport really pulled through and were ahead of schedule which allowed us a little extra time before the ceremony to capture more images for the bride and groom. In the end we captured some great images, one of which you can currently see in the studio’s window.

Palais Royale Open House

Palais Royale Open House

This past week we were privileged to be able to participate in the Palais Royale Open House. With a few other vendors that we had the opportunity to meet, we showcased our businesses to all of the guests and future Palais Royale wedding clients. The venue itself is absolutely wonderful with such a great staff that you truly have to see to understand the level of professionalism that they all possess. Located right on Lake Ontario in Toronto the Palais Royale has one of the best locations and views in the entire city.

From 6pm to 9pm that evening there was a steady stream of people to meet and they were all so wonderful. An event like this is very difficult to pull together and to come through with such great food and drinks for all to enjoy is truly an amazing feat. If you have ever been to an event at the Palais Royale you know exactly what we mean. Between meeting so many wonderful vendors and potential clients our time was spent at the taco bar which was awesome to say the least. But the dessert station which was strategically located right next to our booth was a blessing in disguise. Thanks so much Mary Lou and Christy for setting us up right next to it.

The evening’s entertainment was handled very well by Saturday Night Jive. With the great renditions of songs by everyone from Frank Sinatra (an all time fav) to Bruno Mars we could not have chosen a better play list ourselves. From the start of the evening we were very impressed with the way in which we were treated by the staff who were so very helpful that we can only imagine how well they will take care of you on your wedding day. Since the open house we have been in contact with a few couples and we are looking forward to capturing images at this wonderful venue.
