Harbour Banquet Fall Tasting

Harbour Banquet Fall Tasting

A few weeks ago we had the opportunity to photograph and sample the great to look at and the always equally great to taste food at Harbour Banquet. Like so many times before, the venue was filled with all of their couples who are yet to be married. We met so many great people and talked about their wedding days, which is always an exciting time for us. There is always a special smile that a couple has as they get closer to their big day. We are just there to make that journey all the more smoother for them.

One of the benefits of being invited to these events is the food. When you get a chance to sample all of the goodies that Edge Hospitality comes up with you are having a great day. Another benefit of being invited to an event such as this is meeting the staff. You can get a chance to pick their brain and get ideas and also suggestions for your event. They are always helpful and their knowledge is impressive. They will also have ideas for even the littlest things that you didn’t think about.

Our friend Roberto is doing an awesome job at Harbour Banquet. It is a perfect spot for any event and it is right on the lake in Oakville. Everyone on the staff really have pride in what they do and it shows. From the decor to the linens to the stationary, they have everything covered. We cannot wait for the next visit we have with any of the Edge Hospitality venues that we are the preferred vendors at. It is always a great time spent meeting new people and hearing their plans for their special days.

Studio Cabral Photo Walk Vol. 1

Studio Cabral Photo Walk Vol. 1

This past weekend we finally went on our first official photo walk. We were scheduled to head out on October 1st, but rain got in the way of that. We were so determined to get the walk in this weekend that we decided to ignore the weather forecast. It’s a great thing that we did, because we would have lost out on all of the great images taken. Not to mention the superb conversations with our fellow “walkers”.

Our first ever group was very diverse with people from many ages and job titles. For instance we were joined by a priest and a high school student. We left the studio and headed east along Bloor to capture awesome images. The plan was to make it to Bathurst and the iconic Honest Ed’s. The reason we selected it was that this Toronto landmark will be closing it’s doors for the last time within the next few months. In order to get a photo walk in we had to act fast with the winter headed our way. That made it a fairly easy choice.

Along the way we ran into a mountain bike race at Christie Pits, plus a slew of colorful people, places and things. It was a great learning experience for those involved. We went over a few photography pointers to help them achieve better images. We introduced the rule of thirds to them which is a great lesson in composition. Also we encouraged a move away from automatic settings. If you are interested capturing better images in a relaxed setting let us know. We have yet to schedule or next walk but it will be announced soon.

Halloween Wedding

Halloween Wedding

Last year we had a full blown Halloween Wedding with Pamela and Ricardo playing bride and groom for the day. We never thought it would make sense for us to post it on the blog at the time as it would be after the Halloween season. But instead we saved it for this year to have a full Halloween effect for you all to enjoy. I know that having a Halloween themed wedding sounds cool and I’m here to tell you that it definitely is. Plus when the groom loves Batman you cannot go wrong, especially with a Gotham themed back drop for the head table. Complete with Bat signal.

We have no idea how we held out on this wedding being posted for a whole year. If you love Halloween this wedding had literally everything. We had a late night Edward Scissorhands appearance. Anyone had the opportunity to dress up if they liked. If your wedding cake has a Nightmare Before Christmas figure and has Till Death Do Us Part written on it, you get a high five. To top it all off every table had a real pumpkin centre piece. Fully equipped with a Batman logo on it. HOLY AWESOME CENTRE PIECES BATMAN.

There was one major concern on our part and it was the children. Where or how were they going to go Trick or Treating? The bride and groom had that covered. Each child received a pretty large bag filled with great candies and not the small bite sized ones either. The full size bars and candies, that’s a good deal. There was also a candy buffet but we didn’t get a chance to shoot that as we were busy devouring it. But it’s ok as it was cheat day. And yes the DJ played Thriller…twice

A very special thanks to the Riviera Parque staff for letting us run around their place all day.

Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, Wedding Images!

Karolina & Donny – Le Treport Wedding

Karolina & Donny – Le Treport Wedding

The unofficial last weekend of the summer is a time of year when every child is nervous because they are headed back to school. Karolina and Donny were nervous for other reasons. But you would never had known it by how much fun these two were having on their special day. Each smile genuine and all of the laughter real. We had the chance to try out a few new concepts with them and they were up for anything. It’s always awesome when you are given the green light to do whatever you like.

Our day started in Brampton for Donny’s preparation. He had been up all night, really anxious for the day ahead. After this wedding we are really thinking of adding a rooster to every shot to see if anyone can find them. What do you think? After that we headed to West Mississauga…born and raised on the playground was where I spent most of my days…just kidding. Extra points if you got that. AND now back to our regular blog post… Karolina was more than ready to go that day. We where even given a lesson on dabbing, which we are forever grateful, I think.

After arriving at Le Treport’s chapel for the ceremony we had a slight delay. We filled in the time with conversation and Donny pacing back and forth. Which can become distracting and hilarious at the same time. After a wonderful ceremony we all traveled in the bus together to Riverwood for a few awesome images. After that a quick bus ride back to Le Treport for a really crazy party. We can only show one image from the party because we have been bribed not to show more.
