Peel Professional City Club Business Group

Peel Professional City Club Business Group

For those who do not know I am the president of a business networking group in Mississauga. We share ideas, referrals and knowledge with our fellow colleagues. Some of whom have been members since the beginning of the group over a decade ago. I am very honored to be a part of this awesome group of business owners. But I am also humbled to be their president. Every other Wednesday at noon we get together over a truly great lunch at the Living Arts Centre and “talk shop”, albeit in a very casual atmosphere.

The knowledge that I have gained from these meetings is paramount to us running a successful business. Not to mention the great friends I have added within the 3 years that I have been a member. Our group is filled top to bottom with individuals who are both professional and friendly. Always willing to listen and to help out, with any question that we may have. The guests who pass by have always mentioned that we are a very diverse and fun group of people to be around. But do not let our calm demeanor throw you off, we are great business minded people who thrive to be successful and help our fellow members achieve their goals. Both in business and in their personal lives.

If you run a business and are looking for a fresh perspective that only a networking group such as ours can provide, check us out. On our website you can see if you and your business are a fit. Our next meeting is Wednesday February 22 and I invite you to pass by, I will personally save a seat for you. If you need any other info or have any questions let me know. I understand who hard it can be to run a business and still have time for all of the other things that life needs attention paid to. Here you may find the balance and or the guidance to lead you in the right direction.

Valentine’s Day Survival Guide

Valentine’s Day Survival Guide

Here is the list to end all Valentine’s Day lists. My very own top 5 survival tips for Valentine’s Day. Now, you may think that these suggestions are crazy and or a bit off the wall but I assure you they are THE top 5. So without any further delay here they are. Get your note pads ready.

5 – Buy Flowers…just not today

If you were to buy stock in flowers you should’ve bought them yesterday to sell them around 2pm today. They are the most expensive thing you will buy today. Instead purchase a bouquet of flowers once a month. The cost is exactly the same. Go ahead do the math, I’ll wait. If you purchase a bouquet every month even in February (just not on Valentine’s Day) your significant other will smile and so will you.

4 – Valentine’s Cards…it’s elementary

Remember when you went to elementary school and you would receive a card from every child in your class?… that was awesome. Why not relive that in your adulthood? I buy two boxes and hide them all over the house just so my wife will find them. Once she found one 8 months after February 14. That stands as my record.

3 – Notting Hill…and nothing else

If the suggestion of watching a romantic comedy comes up select Notting Hill. It’s a scientific fact that you cannot deny. This movie is awesome. You either select Notting Hill or you are wrong. It’s that simple.

2 – Say I Love…just do it everyday

When someone says they love you your mood quite often changes. This should not be a one day thing. It should be an everyday thing. If you have heard this here first and have gotten this far, I salute you.

1 – DO NOT GO TO THE MALL ON YOUR WAY HOME

This is a PSA for all of the males out there. If you have forgotten it’s Valentine’s Day and are on your way home from work and think going to the mall is a great idea. DON”T…its a bad idea. You will make a bad decision, trust me. Just write a letter instead. Stop the car and write the 5 things about your partner that you love. That means allot more.

Ok…you can put your notepads down.

Manual Mode VS Chris

Manual Mode VS Chris

At the very beginning of the switch from film to digital cameras I did not trust any setting other than automatic. I would shot and make adjustments later. Then I realized that I would spend too much time “fixing” my images on the computer. I forgot that when we shot on film we were absolutely manual. We also did not have the luxury of seeing what we shot as we shot it. I miss that time like you do not believe.

While taking a week long workshop in 2010 I was encouraged to shot in manual mode. The thought of it scared the you know what out of me. But after a quick talk with myself I realized that it was just a return to how I shot before. On film you would be able to make adjustments on the fly blindly and that was exciting. In any automatic setting you are allowing the camera total control and it does not know what you are looking for, only you know that.

The camera sees everything as a whole and tries it’s best to put the setting right in the middle. That is how the automatic setting works. Usually you do not want the middle. That in the end is scarier for me. If having my images the way I like them is wrong than I don’t want to be right. I made the switch to total manual mode in 2010 and have never looked back, and do not regret it. I have complete control of what my images look like and that is how I forced myself to re-learn manual mode.

A Day At The Office…Teixeira Accounting

A Day At The Office…Teixeira Accounting

Our website needs something different. We need to look fresh and exciting. Can you make a accounting firm look fun? That was the phone call we received a few weeks back from the awesome people at Teixeira Accounting. Of course you can make an accounting firm fun, fresh and exciting…I think. We tried and we took a different approach then most may have taken if they were presented this job. We wanted to show them in their element on a regular day at the office and be honest about it. No easy task but the staff are all great people and you can see it.

In the time that we were there we could feel how each and every client was important to them. They listened allot. You could tell by the silence in the rooms while they were on the phone. They know everyone’s first name which is impressive for anyone how has a hard time doing so. This is next to impossible for a firm that handles as many clients as they do. Once again that is all on them as a group and may be one of things we could not photograph, but we are working on that.

Our favorite image was of the meeting taking place. Which started off as a posed situation but quickly moved into an actual meeting. We did not pose or give much guidance for that one image and it is truly a candid moment. Everyone in the photo had no idea we were photographing them at that moment and it shows people who genuinely like working with one another. It helped us make an accounting firm look fun, fresh and exciting.

365 Project Update

365 Project Update

We are 38 days into the year 2017. At the start of this year I decided that it would be an awesome idea to take one photograph ever day for the entire year. The idea would be that these images would have nothing to do with our regular studio work. That includes weddings, portraits and our commercial work. It would be unfair to post work related images in the 365 project and I have not.

There are different images that are usually have nothing in common with one another. That is just the way I like it. From day to day moods change and your view on everything does so as well. Many of the images are dictated by the weather as well as the sun. If the sun is out you can get a nice contrast on a subject. With an overcast sky the light is even and a little boring, but you can only work with what you got.

Moving forward through out the year I would love to push the boundaries. Right now I just head out on foot sometimes right sometimes left looking for things that interest me. I have had thoughts of going out and looking for certain objects or maybe even colors. But right now I just like being able to capture images that I like, not so much personal but just things that interest me. You can check out my instagram, it is the place where I am posting the images I capture. I have posted one of my lasted images below as well.

If you have an idea for what you would like to see on my instagram page let me know.
