Top 5 Ways To Show Your Wedding Photographer Love

Top 5 Ways To Show Your Wedding Photographer Love

Communication

In any other relationship communication is key, so why should your wedding photographer be any different. We love to know what’s the latest and greatest with you. Be it dealing with your wedding or not. If you love a certain movie, TV show or book we can introduce this somehow with in your wedding photos. Just let us know what you love and we will work our magic.

Share Your Timeline Updates

It is crucial that we know where we need to be on your wedding day. If you have to change your timeline in anyway we need to know this, it’s kind of a big deal. Your timeline can change as often as it needs to be, but we should be in the loop. It is one way in which we can feel important. Like we are part of a secret society with our own special handshakes…I went a little far there but you get my point.

Help Us Help You

If you need advice on anything wedding related there is a fairly good chance we can help. We have a very large list of other wedding vendors who can help you as well incase we may not be able too. As well as help we can find a wedding vendor that hits what you are looking for. Believe it or not this is a compliment to us. We love helping our clients out in anyway and a referral that we give is as good as gold.

Knowledge Is Power

A wedding day is a very joyous occasion that is fun for everyone. However there may be some people who do not get along with one another. There may be history there or it could be a separated or divorced couple that needs to be given a little extra attention. Normally this does not effect the wedding day in any way, but knowing that this is the case is a good start. It has been our experience that most people know that the day is bigger than their differences so no need to stress over this point.

Hook Us Up

Not literally, although we are not saying no. When we do a great job it’s always awesome to hear kind words, it fuels us to always get better. A awesome review online, a referral of a friend or even continued support after your wedding for any other form of photography is always appreciated. Doing a great job is one thing but knowing that you love us enough to go the extra mile when you do not need to is the best gift we can get.

The 365 Project Update

The 365 Project Update

If you have been following on Instagram then you are already aware of my 365 project. I just wanted to give an update as to how things have been going. As well as a few of the things I have discovered about myself and my photography. I never thought when I started this on January 1st that it would be this rewarding.

I have learned a great deal about patience. Patience has been a word and action that has been foreign to me for years. I never liked to wait for anything or anyone. But when I trek out in search of images to capture I look for different and something that is ordinary but photographed in an inordinate way. Today I took a walk near the lakeshore in search or waves, since the water level is super high. I waited for what seemed like an eternity for the right wave and didn’t shoot until it passed by.

I want each of the 365 to be different from the next. I really take the time and look for obscure things but I have noticed that I have taken a liking to reflections. Be it in puddles, mirrors or windows I find them everywhere, or are they finding me. My the universe is hooking me up with awesome reflections because they know I am looking for them. If that’s the case thanks universe. I have posted some of my favorites from the last few weeks of the 365 project. Thanks to those who are following me and commenting on the images.

The Stress Free Guide To Greeting Your Wedding Guests

The Stress Free Guide To Greeting Your Wedding Guests

The receiving line has been a hot topic lately when our couples come in to go over the details of their wedding day. It has been a tradition for years to greet your wedding guests as they enter the venue. But the reception line is not the be all and end all when it comes to receiving lines. Many couples are finding this to be a hindrance in one way or another with their wedding timeline. If you are expecting a large number of people you can expect a reception line to last anywhere from 1-2 hours. With that in mind, we would like to discuss ways in which you can have a receiving line at different times within your wedding day. As well we will discuss NOT have a receiving line at all…crazy as that may sound to your mother.

As wedding photographers we fell that the best time to have a receiving line is after the ceremony. Guest can line up and congratulate the bride and groom as well as their parents. Whomever is the host leads the receiving line. This is of course the bride and groom or the parents. This can take up to a few hours but will be made less stressful with drinks and hors d’oeuvres, if this is possible. For us we can capture great candid images of everyone’s joy and tear filled faces.

The second best option would be not having a receiving line at all. But before you freak out and call us names we have a very good option to use instead. The table hop during dinner is a less formal way of getting to talk to each and everyone of your wedding guests. You can take as long as you want with anyone without feeling the pressure of a line forming behind them. You can fit these “hops” in between courses during dinner as you cannot go through all the tables within 15-30 minutes, especially with over 100 guests.

Our goal as one of your trusted wedding vendors is to keep the stress level as low as possible. These two options can help you stay calm cool and collected. As the bride and groom you have the right in choosing how and when you greet your wedding guests. It can be right after the ceremony or dinner during and doesn’t have to be as everyone enters the venue. This is especially useful if you would like your first dance to be the first glimpse the guests get of the bride and groom. FYI…if your mom gets mad you didn’t hear any of this from us.

Wall Art – Canvas Vs. Frames

Wall Art – Canvas Vs. Frames

When it comes to wall art the two top options in terms of photography is canvas or frames. Both are very good ways in which to display your large portraits within your home and or office. Either way they showcase what is important to you and that is your family history. When you discuss family history it raises the level of importance but photography should carry that level of importance to you, as it is a record left by you. With the sentimental angle taken out of it we are here to discuss which is better or more importantly which one is better for you.

A canvas carries with it more of a gallery feel to me. Where as a framed image has a more home or office feel. But once again that is just me. In my home we have a few canvas art pieces on the wall which are mostly my own images that I have taken over the years. Our framed photos are all in a standard size and are changed quite frequently. That is the benefit of framed photos they can be changed often, a canvas is and always the same image. Not that there is anything wrong with that. A canvas should be a statement piece which can include your wedding portrait or a photo of your child. Within our house we have a canvas of the Eiffel tower that I photographed at night, which I love. It reminds me of the great time my wife and I had in Paris on our honeymoon and it felt right to put it on a canvas.

Like I mentioned before an image in a frame can change. As our daughter grows older images in many of our frames change. It is a great way to save space as well as save on the cost of new frames. We also change the look of our home often so we went with a more neutral frame color and that helps too. The wildcard with framing your images is to have a mat as well within the frame. It adds another dimension to your images that I love with the black and white photograph I capture. I clean black frame and white mat looks fantastic with any black and white image. I am currently working on a wall in my home that will be only black and white images that will be in white mats and black frames. It’s just narrowing my image selections down to a reasonable number.

To save the stress I feel that both have their own place and purpose. If your purpose is to showcase a life event a canvas can be an excellent option. If you love photography and change the images you love often a frame is the way to go there. If you live in a condo and lack the room to have wall after wall of photos changing your images within the frames will help you with space saving. I could sit here and say that canvas is my favorite and it is but the truth is both are great for the reasons listed above.

As always I hope I have been helpful. If you have a photography related question you need answered just send us an email and we will work on answering it for you.
