Chris’s Honeymoon in Paris Revisited

Chris’s Honeymoon in Paris Revisited

I have not been to Paris since my honeymoon in November of 2008. For the last few weeks I have felt a need to travel back there some time very soon. As many of you already know Europe is a special place but the light that shines brightest there for me is Paris. While there I captured over 3,00o images on our 2 week stay. Through the streets both large and small I photographed all that interested me, and there were many things that interested me. The places that we went are all documented in the slideshow below. It is a few years old but I wanted to share with you all once again the beauty of Paris. We did feature this actual slideshow in our studio during an art exhibit we put on, so a few of you may remember it.

The plan is to go back sometime soon, maybe next year with our daughter on our 10 year anniversary. Although right now she may want to go to Disney World instead. For those of you who have not been you should go. I may be wrong but if there were a list of the top 3 cities in the world that you need to visit Paris is on the list. I feel like I am starting to sound like a spokesperson for the city, as if they nee another one. In all honesty we just wanted to share this again with all of you just because these images are very important to us. So much so that we do not mind posting about our Honeymoon in Paris every few years or so.

Ashley & Bryan Engagement Session At James Gardens

Ashley & Bryan Engagement Session At James Gardens

Ashley and Bryan are getting married in September and they love scenery and all things to do with spring. The green on the trees the flowers blooming as well as the cherry blossom’s sprouting. They picked the perfect location for an e session, one in which all of the things just mentioned were checked off. To top it off that is where Bryan proposed to Ashley last summer. “I wanted a place that would be special and one that we have never been before” he said. Ashley thought something was up but played along and the rest is history as they old folks say.

We have not been to James Gardens in quite sometime but if this were the 1990’s we would be there photographing every weekend. We may bring this location back as we found it to be very comfortable for us to photograph. Why not? some of you are listening to music on LP’s right now. We felt nostalgic as we walked through the gardens as we could remember many, many weddings photographed there. For a traditional couple as Ashley and Bryan confessed to being it was the perfect spot.

Our favorite part came when we spotted a cluster of cherry blossom trees in full bloom. It was right as we entered the gardens that we first noticed them but saved the i ages till the end. We let the ideas mount within us as we progressed through the session, then came upon them once again just before we were completed. We set up a few really nice images and captured this couple from a far as they enjoyed some alone time. Then we came in close and set up what we are calling the snow in spring shot. We included the “storm” at it’s worse below but ended with one of our early favorites of 2017.

What To Look For In Your Wedding Decor Vendor

What To Look For In Your Wedding Decor Vendor

We talked once again with Alzira from Timeless Creative Decor to gain more knowledge from another side of the industry. But this time we wanted to know what you need to look for when it comes to someone handling your wedding decor. The insight we have gained from other vendors is beneficial to you when it comes to your wedding. They are the ones who know what is happening in the industry every day. I for one have learned multiple things about wedding decor. It brings a new found respect for one another when vendors within the same industry get together and “talk shop”. We are all spokes on a wheel that spins for your wedding. Now for more tips from Alzira.

I wanted to give some general advice on choosing the vendors for your wedding day. It really is crucial that in addition to liking their portfolio of work, you also like them on a personal level. More than anything, you need to have a team around you who you can trust and work well with. This can be your photographer, hair stylist or wedding planner. Are they professional and can they get along well with others that is crucial.

When it comes to planning an unforgettable wedding, it’s all in the details.
Decor is not just a thoughtful color scheme and carefully arranged flowers; it creates and sets the stage for any event. What would a play be without the sets and backdrops? It would be bland and boring with no visual interest. The same holds true for an event. The event is your play; and it needs the sets and backdrops to set the stage, create the atmosphere, and stimulate and energize the guests.

Alex & Emily’s Family Session At The Scarborough Bluffs

Alex & Emily’s Family Session At The Scarborough Bluffs

We have just got back to the studio after finishing this awesome family session at the Scarborough Bluffs. It has been a rainy and gloomy day here in Toronto but we think that this family session will brighten your day. We captured all of the images right before the rain put a damper on the shoot. The children really cooperated as well and that goes a long way in achieving great images. We decided to photograph in a more lifestyle sort of way, which is to say capture the images as they happen. With children many things can happen and very quickly. You have got to be ready at all times.

We photographed Alex and Emily’s wedding almost 9 years ago, this surprised all of us. The funny thing is it rained on their wedding day as well. Everyone keeps saying that it’s good luck so I guess we have to agree with it. In those great years of marriage they gained two wonderful children and contacted us once again to photograph for them. We were happy to hear from them and loved their location selection of Scarborough Bluffs as we have not photographed there in a few months.

Family sessions are important at any age in your children’s life, because time flies and they will not stay crawling for long. You shouldn’t delay in setting up your session before the kids become teenagers and no longer want to hang out with you. Although Alex and Emily’s children will take a few more years before they become teenagers we know that this images will always be cherished by them. That is until the next time we photograph this family, maybe not on a rainy day though.

The 5 Wedding Day Subjects No One Wants To Discuss With You

The 5 Wedding Day Subjects No One Wants To Discuss With You

The Bridal Party

Don’t expect them to go along with all of your decisions. It’s human nature and that’s what makes us awesome. We are all different and like different things. Keeping this in mind do not expect the bridal party to spend all of their money on their attire for the wedding day. Have that discussion before hand to save an embarrassment. That dress is really nice but will all or your bridesmaids spend $500 on it plus alterations? As well it;s not up to you to babysit the rowdy ones in the bridal party. You know who they are and maybe if you are worried about their behavior you need to second guess theme being in the bridal party.

Complaints

Do not expect everyone to be cool with your decisions. This could be anything from venue to limo, someone will complain about something. It wouldn’t be a wedding without it. Just let it go because it will happen and most of the time it is from someone you least expect. At the end of the day the choice is always yours when it comes to your wedding day.

The No Shows

At every wedding reception there will be the ” No Shows”, you cannot really worry about these people. There is always something that comes up and you don’t really need to get an explanation from them. Chances are you will never know the real reason for them not coming to an event they had already confirmed their attendance. If they did not care enough to come they basically gave you their answer.

Your Timeline

No matter how precise your timeline is there is a very good chance that things may not run on time, and that’s fine. These things happen as anyone familiar with Murphy’s Law can attest. Not everything will be perfect and you need to be cool with that. Or your stress level will make you say and do things you may regret later. Trust your vendors and they will do an awesome job but losing a few minutes here and there will not put a damper on your wedding day.

We Will Not Be Attending

Do not take offense to any invitations are returned to you with a check beside the box marked not attending. There will be at least 10% of your invited guests that will not be attending, it’s science. This could be for multiple reasons but you should never lose sleep on those who will not be attending. You need to focus on the guests coming, those are the ones that matter.
