Victoria & David E Session Downtown Toronto

Victoria & David Engagement Session Downtown Toronto

Victoria and David are getting married this weekend, what better time to share their engagement session than the week of their wedding day. We decided on a tour of downtown Toronto for this session and we love the way it turned out. The shoot started right on Queen and University beside City Hall, where David proposed. Only difference is there was no ice in sight as they were engaged in the winter while skating at Nathan Phillips square. But we shot in and around that area as it brought back fond memories for the couple.

We found new and exciting locations in places we thought we knew so well. It’s a good surprise to find that even to us Toronto still holds a few secrets. The downtown tour continued south of city hall at Cherry Beach, where the rain decided to pay us a visit. But in the short breaks it gave us we captured awesome images that have no one in the background, points for us. As you already know the skyline shot is a must while we are in that part of the city and we could not resist.

We finished off in a little new spot we found by accident while lost one day. We were looking for a totally different location and found a hidden yacht club. To be honest we forgot the reason we were in that area after finding this spot. We like the intimacy even in a large city as we are in. Get ready to see this couples wedding pictures within the next week or so after we play a little blog catch up.

Top 10 Wedding Photography Locations in Mississauga

Top 10 Wedding Photography Locations in Mississauga

Here it is the top 10 wedding photography location in Mississauga. They are not in any order but all have a different look for one another and can fit into any style you have. I do live in Mississauga and can say that we have photographed in each location at least a few times. Each location has something different that makes them unique and can be a secret weapon for you on your wedding day. If you like the water front Mississauga has a few great locations for you to have your wedding day photos taken. Newer buildings that are more centrally located can suit your wedding day as well. Older more historic buildings are also on the list. We have everyone’s taste covered right here below, with images to help you pick the right wedding day location for you in Mississauga.

Leslie Log House

Although it is a fairly small location it does have a few choice spots if you are willing to walk a little bit off the path. Not for those who may plan on a large bridal party. It is located in the middle of Mississauga, so it is not too far for most people. I like it because it has character and the surrounding area does give the photographer options.

Benares Historic House

I love this location for two very important reasons. One it is cool inside and out which is great if the weather is bad and two it may be haunted. I just made that last part up but it does have a Scooby Doo feel to it but in a good way. We have shot here a few times and will keep coming back again and again.

Adamson Estate

My father claims he found this location while walking our dog years ago. I may or may not believe him. This location has been a Studio Cabral Wedding location for over 20 years. We even shot here when you didn’t need a permit. It has grounds big enough to hold 3-4 wedding parties at one time, so space is not an issue. The A+ view of Lake Ontario is always great for wedding photography.

Richard’s Memorial Park

This is a great location if you like walking along the lake. It is a fairly nice park but the go to spot for wedding photography is the south end along the waterfront. If you do not like walking and or water this is not for you.

Port Credit

A favorite of ours as we want a little more than just the water sometimes. We like the diversity of the area as well the multiple spots to photograph in. We could shoot there all year and still have locations we have not been to. Great for a small walking tour, plus you could get ice cream while there as well as some great Mexican food.

Mississauga City Hall / Jubilee Gardens

Two locations in one spot, that helps with the parking am I right. We used to come here only on a rainy day without any other options. Because of that reason you would find many weddings in one spot. That made us improvise and look into other locations while there. We have grown to love it as most do not know the pretty spots in and around this wedding photography location.

Brueckner Rhododendron Garden

If you like walks in the park and nature look no further. Plus there is a somewhat easy access to the water front. It is great for family photos and close up photography if that is a style you feel fits with your wedding photography wish list.

Bradley Museum

A great wedding photography location if you are into history. The grounds are covered with older buildings much like Black Creek Pioneer Village in Toronto. It has many different options for the photographer to enjoy.

Living Arts Centre

A awesome location for indoor photography in the colder months, although great year round as well. It has multiple light sources as the whole front wall is a window. But in the summer can be utilized for outdoor as well and it’s right beside Square One. This location’s permit is purchased right from the Living Arts Centre and not the City of Mississauga.

Kariya Park

Big things come in small packages. This park is on the tiny side but centrally located with great photography options. If you have a larger bridal party this may not work for you. But with a smaller group or just a bride and groom the wedding photos captured here will be great.

Jennifer & Siverio E Session U of T and Cherry Beach

Jennifer & Siverio U of T and Cherry Beach E Session

On Monday we started the week off right with an engagement session at the U of T for Jennifer and Silverio. It went so well that we decided to capture a few more images at Cherry Beach as well as a certain spot that showcases the most awesome skyline there is, Toronto. Our tour of favorite locations was a testament to always rolling with the punches and not settling for just good enough. We always want more and to do so you need to keep moving and capturing awesome images.

We arrived at U of T to find that it was graduation day and because of that some “choice” spots were unavailable to us. Not a problem that never slows us down we moved on and found new “choice” spots. Jennifer wore a very pretty and “flowy” white dress to see what it looks like before the wedding day. With it being a little windy in certain locations it added a dimension that helped us capture spectacular engagement images. We even managed to get a silhouette in while at the U of T as well. Maybe a few ninja moves were implemented in order to do so, but that’s fine.

With some time to spare we decided to get closer to Lake Ontario and beat the heat as it was getting a little hot while the morning turned to afternoon. Cherry Beach is a favorite summer spot for us, as it is always cooler there. As luck would have it we were right once again on this day. With the water levels reaching record highs the beach had less room to work with but we managed to work around that and capture a few more images before heading up the street to get our Toronto skyline shot. We never miss a chance to do so while in that area on a shoot.

Amanda & John Renaissance by the Creek Wedding

Amanda & John Renaissance by the Creek Wedding

This past weekend we had the honor of being a few of the over 300 guests at Amanda and John’s wedding at Renaissance by the creek in Mississauga. Our full team was on hand for this day as we had many things going on throughout the wedding day. The couple had three slideshows that we made prior to the wedding day being shown during the reception. As well as these slideshows we had a same day edit done as well. The reaction we received after showing it was awesome. A very important note as well for us personally as a studio is that we had the chance to reconnect with over 10 former wedding couples that were guests. It is always a highlight for us to run into former brides and grooms and share their wedding day memories and comment on how their lives have changed since.

We started the day off with John at his parents home, where everyone was ready at a quarter to 8 in the morning. After making a bit of noise with the groomsmen outside and waking the neighbors we dashed up the street to Amanda’s parents home to get her ready for her big day. To our amazement they were ready early too, we love that. It lets us know everyone is just as excited as we are for the day. On a side note do not leave any thing related to Walking Dead lying around the house, we will use it. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. After capturing awesome images of everyone we headed down to St. Mary’s church to get Amanda and John married. After a great ceremony where the music was taken care of by the Banda Do Senhor Santo Cristo of Toronto we all jumped into a crazy large bus and made the journey to Mississauga.

We started off the afternoon at Adamson Estate capturing great images near the lake. After our permit time was up we headed to location number two, Benares Museum. Amanda thought ahead and booked two permits, just in case we had bad weather. Fortunately we had nothing be clear skies all day but because we were on time all day we decided to photograph at our back up option as well. We still made it to Renaissance by the creek 45 minutes early for the reception. We shot done 2 espressos before getting the night rolling and setting up the photo booth. Our night was filled with capturing great images, talking to former clients and laughter. Just the way we like to spend an evening. Congratulations to Amanda and John on their awesome wedding day and good luck in the future.

Happy Birthday To Me

Happy Birthday To Me

Today I celebrate being on this planet for 38 years, spread out over 5 decades. Although I only spent 6 months in the 70’s it still counts. That 5 year old Chris playing with his Thunder Cats action figures never thought he would communicate with you on this platform. Back then the internet and everything else we call normal today was just a dream. We are literally all connected now and that’s awesome.

I am blessed to live with who I love and the daughter we both share. I am equally blessed to do what I love with my family. We have run Studio Cabral since 1987 and there is not a day that goes by that we do not take that seriously. Although working with your family can be tough, the pros heavily out weigh the cons. The only con being you can’t tell your boss where to go because he also happens to be your father.

I have dreams that I have yet to accomplish but with the people I surround myself with I have no doubt that they will be achieved. These dreams change daily, they evolve into bigger and better dreams. But if you live by the motto “Go big or go home” you get used to bigger and better. These dreams will always take place in the city I love Toronto which happens to be in the most awesome country in the world Canada. If there is any team from Toronto I will cheer for them, no matter how bad they are.

Although I was born in Canada my heritage and heart is Portuguese and proud. But I love everyone equally as long as you are cool and level headed. I have learned much in my life but nothing is more obvious than this. We are all the same, we all want the same things, we all need love and hopes and dreams. We just want to take a different route and that’s fine. My path has and always will have take turns and peaks and valleys. But if you see me on my journey there will be a camera in my hand, most likely Canon.

I do not take things too seriously, never have. I prefer laughter over tears. Although I have cried once or twice just ask anyone who was present at my wedding. I prefer to focus on the experience rather than the material things because they last longer. The race is short and you need to enjoy it before you cross the finish line. I still have many places to see and they will be seen with my wife and daughter. Maybe Disneyland, maybe Charleston maybe even San Francisco but we will have a great time.

I do not show love easily but if I spend time with you, I probably love you. I just wont tell you, we will laugh together instead. Not sure if it was becoming a father over 4 years ago but I will look at the cup as being half full from now on. Things can and will go wrong but as George Harrison said “All things must pass”. Just wanted to share a little about me to let everyone know my name is Chris and it’s my 38th birthday. Now let me catch my breath, blowing out all those candles takes a lot.
