Second Camera Wedding Coverage

Second Camera Wedding Coverage

We have been on the fence with this topic for quite some time. Right here in our own studio we have been divided on the question “Do clients really need a second photographer”? In truth the answer is both yes and no. We here at Studio Cabral have trained ourselves to be THE only photographer at the event. We just learned that way, it may be an old school approach but it works. Well, so does having another photographer at an event. As long as both are on the same page and have each other’s back.

When done right the exact same moment will look different through a different set of eyes. While communicating through out a shoot the two photographers can capture multiple images of moments that once put together show the story in greater detail. That is the essence of photography, you want to tell a story without saying any words. With a second camera covering an event there are just more ways of saying it.

In regards to weddings it really depends on the actual client. Many believe that the more is definitely the merrier. Where there are those who feel they would like their ceremony or reception to remain more intimate. But that’s why there is chocolate and vanilla, we love choices. Below we have a few images captured at a recent wedding ceremony that show a great example of a second photographer coverage. Having a second photography is an advantage if there are multiple levels to work with, as you can see.

Or if you still have time and need tips for this year you can start here. You may be seen as a trend setter but we will keep it a secret.

1. Vintage glamor – Picture an industrial warehouse decked out with ornate, over-the-top centerpieces and twinkling candle light

2. PINK – still remains the ‘IT” wedding color for 2018

3. Surprise settings – Today’s couples want a wedding that will blow their guests away, and one of the key elements to an unforgettable event is the choice of venue

4. The Flowers – Swoon-worthy blooms. Peonies, garden roses, ranunculus, dahlias and other “soft-petal” blooms are the top-requested flowers

5. Centerpieces – Tall glass trumpet vases are making a comeback “they allow for large, lush arrangements,”

6. Mix it up – “too perfectly organized tables can be boring, more brides want a more eclectic feel. Create the look by featuring two or three different centerpiece designs

7. Still going strong – Hanging floral centerpieces aren’t going anywhere anytime soon!

8. Custom menus – One of the best ways couples can share their story with guests is through food and drinks, signature cocktails and his-and-her drinks have become reception staples

9. Wine-and-cheese pairings have become a familiar site at cocktail receptions, but the idea of matching different foods with different wines is fabulous and keeps things interesting and guests talking about it

10. Traditional cakes are reclaiming their spot at the top of the wedding dessert chart

On Location Business Portraits With Laura-Jean

On Location Business Portraits With Laura-Jean

Let’s face it if you are running your own business you have a lot on your plate. Now what if you ran 3 businesses? That is the case for Laura – Jean, who wears a few different hats and has a few full plates. We met up with her in one of her shops located on Roncessvalles right here in Toronto’s west end. The shoot is for Neighbours Of High Park but I had such an awesome time chatting and shooting that I wanted to share a few of my favorite images with you.

We chatted at length about business and what our goals were. Which brought up a few great points that I have taken to heart and have since reflected on. We found a few similar traits that we both share and it is refreshing to see that most entrepreneurs are on the same boat. Which has lead Laura-Jean into business coaching. After years of trial an error she can help those avoid the issues that come up, the issues that most with entrepreneurial experience know. When you run 3 different locations in Toronto and survive you can coach anyone in business as she has with Fresh Collective.

If that’s not enough she is a part owner in a Rowanwood Daycare also in Toronto. Because if you already have a few things going on why not add a daycare. After the session I sat back and thought how does she pull it off and without naps ( I’m guessing ). We are looking forward to the next issue of Neighbours Of High Park to here her full story as well as the work she is doing for charity.

How To Select A Location For Your Engagement Photos

How To Select A Location For Your Engagement Photos

Selecting a location for your engagement photos has become just as important if not more important than your wedding photo location. It can represent many different things. Is the location important to you? Does it have a special significance to you as a couple? Doe it look cool in photos? These questions can actually be taken literally when you are selecting your location for engagement photos..

First thing about what you like to do together and go from there. You can be a very urban couple who frequent downtown often. There are those who are more likely to find themselves outdoors surrounded by nature. Many find that selecting a location that you enjoy spending time at adds to the value of these images. If you are having a good time in an atmosphere you are comfortable it will show. One of our favorite session ideas is a walk in and around any downtown Toronto neighborhood and take in the sights, sounds and eats that it provides.

If you feel nostalgic for the time and place your were asked on one knee to spend the rest of your lives together than you can go back to where it started. It will forever hold a special place with the two of you. Maybe capturing that in photographs is the way to go for you. It will forever be cherished and held onto proudly as the years pass and depending on the location may not be there in the future.

What are your favorite activities? If you like reading, gaming, driving, walking, biking, snowboarding, kayaking or even skydiving why not add those elements to your engagement photos. That could make location selection fairly easy as well. Fun and quirky never hurt anyone. As long as that specific fun and quirky works with you as a couple than more power to you.
