Late Summer Wedding at Pearson Convention Centre

Late Summer Wedding at Pearson Convention Centre

On this wedding day we brought our full bag of tricks and used every inch them and than some. I do not think that there wasn’t a type of lighting gizmo that we did not use. We had off camera flash, on camera flash, video light, sun light, no light, every light and all lights in between. As one point we had poor Silverio angle a flash in is hand in the Rolls Royce while looking loving into his wife’s eyes. Sorry to let you have a glimpse behind the curtain but this is what it takes to capture great images. It takes a little bit of work but in the end magic happens.

On the morning of our getting ready images were a little tricky as the bride and groom live fairly close to one another. How close? their backyards are attached. So any outdoor photography came complete with ninja tactics. Lucky for us we have our 5th degree black belts in wedding photography. No bride would see her groom before church on this day, not on our watch.

After throwing a few ninja stars to and fro we headed to church to get this two kids married. A little bit of two camera action achieved a few different angles and perspectives you see below. The fun was after the ceremony trying to get all guests into an image without any steps. But once again we called upon our ninja tactics and used a few tricks with the limo bus and gravity.

Our post ceremony plans took us to Humber Arboretum which is hidden rather nicely behind Humber college. It is a great location on the city’s north west end that apparently is no longer a secret with the 6 weddings there. Most without a permit I’m sure, but who am I to judge. The reception was held at Pearson Convention Centre and came complete with a DJ ( Non Stop Productions ) and band (Tabu). Which was a nice little change of pace. They even did an awesome version of Hotel California to complete the awesome wedding day.

My Dream Photography Destination

My Dream Photography Destination

I could be alone on this but since a very young age I have had a unhealthy fascination with vampires. Not the sparkly ones form the Pacific North West, the good old fashioned suck your blood Bram Stoker kind. I was after all Dracula 6 years in a row for Halloween as a child and even a few times as an adult. My library contains too many novels on vampires that I would be embarrassed to mention. I also may from time to time live in a world where it may be cool to dress like it’s 1784, but who says there’s anything wrong with that.

Having said all this my absolute dream photography location has to be Transylvania. Nestled in the great country of Romania this sleepy little region is the first place on earth that I would go to if I had a chance. No questions asked, drop me off at an airport and say you can go to one place I will select Transylvania. The real problem is I cannot get a partner to fly there with me, after all I cannot fight off a vampire by myself. Or at the very least need to out run that partner to safety. I may not be selling the travel companion gig too well here, but hear me out.

This place has everything. The Carpathian mountains to the east, the famous Bran Castle where they claim you know who used to live…or still does and there are even many resorts with thermal hot springs. If you like driving Transylvania has the worlds best road according to Jeremy Clarkson of Top Gear. While I photograph stuff and things my driving companion can navigate through Transfagarasan road. Still not sold? They have a bunch of bears all around over there. So who wants to come with me?

Top 75 Portrait Photography Blogs & Websites By Portrait Photographers…We Made It

Top 75 Portrait Photography Blogs & Websites By Portrait Photographers…We Made It

This whole year we have been posting shoots and tips on our blog. The thinking was that we have this wealth of knowledge in our heads that needs to get out and help you the reading. Knowledge that may or not be helpful but nonetheless we have it and want to share it. We didn’t think that someone would add us to a top of anything list but we made this list. We are very happy about it because it is an industry list that includes many awesome photographers. Our goal was not really to be recognized it was to help. We had so many clients ask us so many questions that we felt if one person was thinking it maybe others could benefit from knowing as well. So we put our heads together and started writing and spell checking….a lot of spell checking. So if you have a bit of time and wanted to take a look at the list here is the link once again.

Brace Yourself…Holiday Parties Are Coming

Brace Yourself…Holiday Parties Are Coming

The office holiday party…it happens every year. Sometimes you need an extra day or so to recuperate. Sometimes you may need to find a new job afterwards. What ever the case we can be there to cover your event. Our favorite option is to photograph everyone as they arrive to the party right before dinner and dancing start.

We have the very fun photo booth style with props as well as classic studio style posing. It is a great balance that covers every age group. It’s like a mullet. Business up front and party in the back. The younger crowd loves to let loose and throw a few props on and go crazy. But the more “experienced” crowd wants a nice photo with their spouse, boyfriend, girlfriend. In some cases all three. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

Whichever way you choose to be photographed we can be there for both fun and classic. We love the chance to do both and to see the groups become more and more relaxed. That may be us but more likely it may be the open bar. Either way we can take the photo booth idea and bring it to the next level with a more interactive approach. If you need to book a few hours of fun for your holiday party give us a call. We can be there for as little as 2 hours and photograph everyone who attends.

The Best Way To Have An Awesome Time On Your Wedding Day

The Best Way To Have An Awesome Time On Your Wedding Day

A few weeks ago during an in studio consultation a soon to be bride let it be known that she wanted to have an awesome wedding day. That is music to our ears, it is our number goal when we set out to capture great images on anyone’s wedding day. Rain or shine we want you to have an awesome wedding day experience. But for some this is a little difficult to achieve. Many things factor into a possible negative experience but it is easily avoidable.

It really is no secret at all that if you do not sweat the small stuff everything will turn out fine. I can hear you screaming at your screen right now…A WEDDING IS NOT SMALL STUFF CHRIS. You are correct but in the grand scheme of things it can be. If you are worried about your flowers arriving on time or a mismatch of suits or if the groom will actually show up, just relax. You cannot control everything, let alone as many people as it takes to make an awesome wedding day.

Your number one goal is to hire experienced professionals who have been through this a few times. That is it you should be fine after that and can enjoy your day. Since 1987 we have photographed many many many people and the ones who are not too focused on all of the details tend to have a wonderful experience. Any negative thought can and most likely will take away from what is important on your wedding day. The most important thing is being able to take it all in and having an awesome time. Everyone there has come to see you to tie the knot.

The weather can put a damper on things as well. But you cannot control that and you really need to let that go early. Have a few thick fancy shawls on hand in case it gets cold, you can match them to make it look like it was planned. Rain in the forecast? get a few matching umbrellas, you can capture a few awesome images with them and stay dry. Think of it like a big exam, if you are prepared you will succeed and pass. I know it may sound too simple but it really is.
