When it comes to choosing your wedding photographer most couples cringe. We can see it on your face when you walk into the studio…FEAR. My advice to you would be just relax we are not dentists, you should be happy to see us…no offense to dentists. We have compiled a list of our top 5 things to look for when you are choosing your wedding photographer.
ONE…Experience…When you have an experienced vendor in any field it will pay off when you would least expect it to. It is written that to be an expect at anything you have to compile at the very least 10,000 hours at that very job to be considered an expert. We cannot tell you how much experience will guide you through situations that can be a little stressful. Experience is the tool that will drive the individual through it, by taking it on head first.
TWO…You have to like the person…If you sit down with 3 different photographers (which we encourage everyone to do) and one really stands out as the one person you can feel comfortable with handling what is the most important day of your life, hire them. It’s really that simple, that one person will be there for you through your whole day you HAVE to like them.
THREE…Location, Location. Location…If a any vendor is constantly on the move form place to place year after year, you should fire up the red flag. Changing a location from time to time is one thing but if you Google a company name and cannot figure out where they are based on the number of different address they have had within the past 6 months, we got a problem. This may seem like an exaggeration but it is definitely not.
FOUR…Pay Attention…If you get the chance to see the photographer in action pay very close attention to their interaction with anyone within the wedding. This could be the bride, groom, mother, 4th cousin twice removed, anyone at all. A true pro will treat every single person the same with respect and a little dash of fun. A wedding is all about fun be you gotta be respectful as well. This also goes along way into seeing if everyone trusts the photographer. Without trust you cannot achieve many of the images that involve a little more interaction.
FIVE…Will they be there…When you sit down with a photographer make sure that they will be there on the day. You may be sitting down with a sales person who is really great and very much a person you can see there on the day and then a stranger shows up and your stuck.
Choosing your wedding photographer should be a wonderful experience as is most of the wedding planning process but a few helpful hints and even your own criteria can really help the final decision.
