Happy Birthday To Me

Happy Birthday To Me

Today I celebrate being on this planet for 38 years, spread out over 5 decades. Although I only spent 6 months in the 70’s it still counts. That 5 year old Chris playing with his Thunder Cats action figures never thought he would communicate with you on this platform. Back then the internet and everything else we call normal today was just a dream. We are literally all connected now and that’s awesome.

I am blessed to live with who I love and the daughter we both share. I am equally blessed to do what I love with my family. We have run Studio Cabral since 1987 and there is not a day that goes by that we do not take that seriously. Although working with your family can be tough, the pros heavily out weigh the cons. The only con being you can’t tell your boss where to go because he also happens to be your father.

I have dreams that I have yet to accomplish but with the people I surround myself with I have no doubt that they will be achieved. These dreams change daily, they evolve into bigger and better dreams. But if you live by the motto “Go big or go home” you get used to bigger and better. These dreams will always take place in the city I love Toronto which happens to be in the most awesome country in the world Canada. If there is any team from Toronto I will cheer for them, no matter how bad they are.

Although I was born in Canada my heritage and heart is Portuguese and proud. But I love everyone equally as long as you are cool and level headed. I have learned much in my life but nothing is more obvious than this. We are all the same, we all want the same things, we all need love and hopes and dreams. We just want to take a different route and that’s fine. My path has and always will have take turns and peaks and valleys. But if you see me on my journey there will be a camera in my hand, most likely Canon.

I do not take things too seriously, never have. I prefer laughter over tears. Although I have cried once or twice just ask anyone who was present at my wedding. I prefer to focus on the experience rather than the material things because they last longer. The race is short and you need to enjoy it before you cross the finish line. I still have many places to see and they will be seen with my wife and daughter. Maybe Disneyland, maybe Charleston maybe even San Francisco but we will have a great time.

I do not show love easily but if I spend time with you, I probably love you. I just wont tell you, we will laugh together instead. Not sure if it was becoming a father over 4 years ago but I will look at the cup as being half full from now on. Things can and will go wrong but as George Harrison said “All things must pass”. Just wanted to share a little about me to let everyone know my name is Chris and it’s my 38th birthday. Now let me catch my breath, blowing out all those candles takes a lot.

Thanks for sharing Chris. You are a very lucky man. Your glass is certainly half full. But if you ever find it empty remember you can always refill it. Happy birthday enjoy it with your two beautiful girls.
