5 things every bride should know before her wedding day
1 – Your hair
Do not get me wrong I love hair stylists they are awesome people. But they should really pay attention to which side of the bride’s face their hair falls down. Countless times we are ready for the vows and everything is perfect then BAM…the right side of the bride’s face is covered entirely in hair. It’s a little thing but as a photographer it is a huge deal. We really really really want to see both the bride and grooms faces. It is kind of important. On that first consultation with your hair stylists let them in on this “secret” your photographer will thank you with multiple high fives.
2 – Your the star of the show
Some people have an issue being the star of the show, I am not one of these people. But there are those who are shy and find it hard being in the forefront, particularly in large groups of people. This is a tough one. What ever issue you have in regards to being the star you need to take it one step at a time. Focus on your partner and they rest will take care of itself. I had a tough time on my wedding day and I like attention. I just focused on my wife and it worked for me.
3 – Get comfy shoes
If you select one option this should be the one. You do not “need” to listen to any other one of these options but you should listen to this one. GET COMFY SHOES. They could be Crocs, Jordans or an old brown shoe but they should be comfy. Yes there are certain moments during the day when your feet do show, at these moments you put on a fancy shoe for show. You will last longer on your feet if you are comfortable. And yes you will spend a large portion of the day on your feet.
4 – You only get one chance at this
Unless you plan on getting married more often this is your only chance to make it count. Enjoy yourself, smile and laugh. Go and talk to everyone you can, they are there for you after all. Dance as long as you can and to whatever the DJ is playing. Yes I did request “It’s Raining Men”, just dance to it. It’s a classic 80’s jam and everyone loves it. As well “Thriller” is a perfect option no matter what time of year your wedding takes place.
5 – Assemble an awesome team
The A-Team, X-Men, Dana Scully and Fox Mulder, your bridal party. This is a short list of an awesome team. Your bridal party will be there all day, every step of the way. Think about that when you assemble your team. Remember you need a fun one, a loud one, a quiet one, a rebel, and of course the fixer. The fixer is there just in case something happens, think Harvey Keitel in Pulp Fiction.
